If you are involved in retail, get cloth bags or paper bags printed and post pictures of your bag on social media showing your support of the day. Many people will have a mass of plastic bags stored somewhere. Take a picture of your stash of plastic bags and ask people if they have one too. Start a discussion about the problem and ask people what they are going to do about it.

It’s summer in the Northern Hemisphere and it’s tempting to spend too long in the sun. Even in an Australian winter, the sun can be harsh. It’s good celebration day to remind us to protect your skin from the sun’s rays. Pictures of pretty parasols or sunhats work well as well as images of the sun.
Hashtag to use #stayoutofthesun

Make today your Independence from meat day. Jackfruit is an interesting large fruit from South Asia which can be used in sweet and savory dishes and is naturally suitable for vegans. As a meat-substitute, it is soy, cholesterol and gluten free. Jackfruit adds a meat-like texture to dishes. For tasty recipes like Jackfruit “tuna” melt sandwich visit this site.
COMIC SANS DAY
As a designing company we couldn’t let a day that celebrates a font slip past. Love it or hate it Comic Sans is probably the most talked about font, and even has its own weird holiday on the first Friday of July. In 2019, this takes place on the 4th and it will be the 10th year that it has been celebrated. Find some comic sans memes or jokes to share. Or dare to use comic sans in a graphic. It’s allowed only for one day!
Hashtag to use #comicsans
Did you that the bikini was launched to the world on the 5th July 1946 by French engineer, Louis Reard who was running his mother’s lingerie business? It wasn’t the first two-piece swimsuit, but it was considered shocking because it exposed the navel. Bikini-style woman’s attire dates back as early as 5600 BC. Whether you have a “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” or any other bikini, it’s time to celebrate it.
APPLE TURNOVER DAY
You body may not be bikini-ready, but you can always enjoy the 5th of July by celebrating the comforting Apple Turnover Day. Indulge in a decadent treat of flaky pastry stuffed with apple. Use Hashtag: #AppleTurnoverDay
NATIONAL FRIED CHICKEN DAY
Did you know that the Scottish introduced fried chicken to America? It would have been plain at that stage, as it was the spices that the African slaves in the South added to the fried chicken that made it the tasty meal that it is today.
Almost everyone has a favorite fried chicken recipe or restaurant. To get a discussion going, ask whether people like their fried chicken with waffles.
Pucker up because Kissing Day encourages kissing around the world. Did you know that on average 18-to 21 year olds make out 11 times a week? But kissing is not just for the young – 5% of over 45 year olds share a passionate snog 31 times a week! Celebrate International Kissing Day with a beautiful image of lips or kissing couples or lipstick kisses.
#Internationalkissingday #nationalkissingday #kissingday
World Chocolate Day
Chocoholics around the world like celebrating chocolate days (there are a few days that celebrate this treat during the year). So of course, we had to include this in our July Content Calendar!
Apparently dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants and some research suggests that dark chocolate (which has a higher cacao level than milk chocolate) may have health benefits, and who are we to argue? Any image of chocolate or recipe on social media with this magical ingredient will get your audience drooling and while you have their attention, ask them a question.
NATIONAL MACARONI DAY
Mac ‘n Cheese is a nostalgic dish with many childhood memories. This little elbow-shape pasta doesn’t have to be smothered with a cheese sauce of course, but most people like it that way. Get people talking about whether they see macaroni as a side dish or a complete meal. Ask them what cheese they add or simply post a picture of macaroni cheese sauce and ask them for the first word they think of when they see it.
VIDEO GAME DAY
There two similar days celebrating video games Video Game Day on the 8th of July and National Video Games Day on the 12th September. Since we love video games, it is a great day to talk about your best video game or even the first video game you ever played.
SUGAR COOKIE DAY
A day you can be shameless and get your sugar rush from eating tasty sugar cookies. The sugar cookie dates back to Eighteen Century Pennsylvania. Bake your own or buy some.
Use hashtag #SugarCookieDay

Teddy Bear’s Picnic (Anne Murray)
“If you go down in the woods today
You’d better go in disguise!

Teddy Bears have their picnic”
If you have young children, Teddy Bear Picnic Day is a very good reason to have a picnic. And don’t forget the teddy bears.

Don’t tell the other muffins, but blueberry muffins get a day all to themselves. Make sure you celebrate by eating one today.
Unplug from technology. Cut out the complications. And appreciate the simple things in life. At least for a few hours on the 12th July. It really is that simple.
Use Hashtag #SimplicityDay

There is something satisfying about eating French fries as a side or on its own. And it seems wrong not to have fries with a burger. So, do you just add a sprinkling of salt, topping or condiments to yours?
EMBRACE YOUR GEEKNESS DAY
Is there something that you are passionate about but that you keep hidden because you don’t want people to think you are a geek? This day is about embracing your inner geek and talking about it. Create engagement on social media by asking people to share their hidden geekiness.
Use hashtag: #EmbraceYourGeeknessDay
The French National Day commemorates the storming of the Bastille which was a turning point in the French Revolution. What a great day for Francophiles to celebrate anything French: French wine, French food or the Eiffel Tower. World Kissing Day may have passed but you can always try French kissing.
Hashtag to use #BastilleDay
INTERNATIONAL NUDE DAY
International Nude Day originated in New Zealand and is now celebrated in 30 countries around the world. Celebrate the beauty of the body. Enjoy the freedom and the benefits of getting greater exposure to vitamin D.
Obviously, since public nudity is illegal in many places, we suggest that you celebrate this day at home or with like-minded friends. Obviously, you need to be careful about which images you use to share this day on social media too.
Use hashtag: #InternationalNudeDay
SHARK AWARENESS DAY
This misunderstood ocean predator needs a day of acknowledgement. These prehistoric fish deserve our respect. A great day for giving some “fintastic” facts. Or support a local Aquarium.
And If you are really stuck for ideas for shark awareness, you can always resort to talking about “Baby Shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo”
Hashtag to use #SharkAwarenessDay
Give Something Away Day
Most of us have too much stuff. On Give Something Away Day, it is a great excuse to do a bit of decluttering and do your bit for someone who needs it more. Have a look at your crowded cupboards, pick up a few items and ask the Marie Kondo question: “Does it give me joy?” Maybe it needs to give joy to someone else.
WORLD SNAKE DAY
There are over 3000 snake varieties and about a quarter of them are venomous, and only a small portion of these are dangerous to people. This is a day to find out more about the slithering serpent. Snakes are symbolic for fertility, rebirth, transformation, immortality, and healing so you might want to choose that angle if it works for your business.
FRESH SPINACH DAY
To balance all the unhealthy eating days in July, it is good to celebrate a healthy habit holiday. Superfood spinach is a great source of iron, calcium and magnesium.
WORLD EMOJI DAY
We love emojis, it’s hard to believe that they haven’t be around forever. The first emoji was designed in Japan by Shigetaka Kurita in 1999. They are so expressive and add color to text. Make sure you add plenty of emojis to your post on the 17th July to celebrate World Emoji Day.
Use hasthag #WorldEmojiDay
NATIONAL HOT DOG DAY
One of America’s favorite fast foods, the simple frankfurter in a roll has become an institution at fairgrounds and baseball games. National Hot Dog Day varies year to year based on when the North American Meat Institute hosts its annual Hot Dog Lunch on Capitol Hill. In 2019, the weird holiday falls on the 17th July. Did you know that the correct etiquette for eating a hotdog is five bites?
Use hashtag #HotDogDay
NELSON MANDELA INTERNATIONAL DAY
Nobel Peace Prize winner, Nelson Mandela was an inspiration to millions of people. Honor this modern-day hero with one of his quotes that will inspire others. United Nation hosts Nelson Mandela International Day to celebrate his life. You can find out more things to share about him here:
GET TO KNOW YOUR CUSTOMERS DAY
This day is celebrated on the third Thursday every quarter and in July, it’s on the 18th in 2019. It is a brilliant prompt to ask your customers questions to find out more about what makes them tick. Try using a poll to get to know your customers better.
Another excuse to celebrate with a cocktail in July. The rum-based Daiquiri was one of Ernest Hemmingway’s and JF Kennedy’s favorite tipples. You can always claim that you are having one of your five a day when you have a Strawberry Daiquiri.
You don’t have to go ‘dancing in the moonlight’ or go ‘walking on the moon’ to celebrate this celestial body. The moon has inspired great poems, songs and paintings. Find an interesting lunar quote to share on this day.
NATIONAL LOLLIPOP DAY
Need a sugar rush? Let lollipops be your confectionary crush. Not only are lollipops sweet to eat, they also make pretty social media posts.
NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY
This fun holiday is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of July each year and so deserves to be in our July Content Calendar. The whole of July is ice-cream month too, so if you haven’t posted anything about this cooling dessert, then maybe the 21st of July is a good day to do so. Scoops of icecream on a dish or cone or in a sundae, there are so many choices about how to represent this day that has been celebrated since 1984. Enjoy!
Lamingtons are iconic Australian culinary treats to have with tea. Squares of sponge cake coated with chocolate sauce and rolled in desiccated coconut. Delicious. Ironically, Baron Lamington who the cakes were named after, couldn’t stand them and referred to them as “those bloody poofy woolly biscuits”.
SPOONERS (SPOONERISM) DAY
Spoonerism is named after nineteenth century Reverend William Archibald Spooner who was born on the July 22. He had the terrible habit with the ‘slip of his tongue’. A spoonerism is a verbal mistake where the constants of two word are swopped often to comedic effect. He famously said “The Lord is a shoving leopard” instead of “The Lord is a loving shepherd”. Have fun with some word play today.
What an excuse to eat this sticky, sweet fruit. Mangoes were first cultivated in India over 5000 years ago. Whether you like eating mango on its own, in a recipe, as a sorbet, or a juice, celebrate this weird holiday with an image of a mango, a recipe or anything mango coloured.
Use hashtag #MangoDay
GORGEOUS GRANDMA DAY
You are only as old as you feel. And I bet your grandmother doesn’t spend all day in a rocking chair knitting socks. Tell the world about your gorgeous grandma. Share your story about why you love your nana on social media and share a picture of your grandmother or someone growing old disgracefully.
Who doesn’t like a splash of color? Everything becomes a bit better with sprinkles. July is ice cream month and it would be rude not have ice cream with a few sprinkles. Or if you are in Australia, have fairy bread as a snack on the 23rd July, no matter how old you are. Sprinkle your magic over your social media posts with a pop of pastel colors.
Family is important and it is great to celebrate bonds with family members. The cousin relationship is special. Childhood is often spent in the close company of cousins, but as time moves on, you may not see your cousins as often. Ask your followers about their cousins. Or use this day to talk about family trees. Do you know how all your cousins are related?
What a wonderful excuse to celebrate everything Mexican and to talk about Tequila in our July Content Calendar. Did you know that all tequilas need to originate from one of five regions in Mexico? Or did you know that the blue agave plant that is used to make tequila is not a cactus? Or that Mexicans typically sip tequila rather than doing it as a shot with lime and salt? Celebrate National Tequila Day with images of anything Mexican or pictures of a Magarita cocktail.
Did you know that carousels go clockwise in Europe, and anticlockwise in the USA? Many people have fond childhood memories of these merry-go-rounds and they feature in many films. Including horror ones! Celebrate Carousel day with a picture of a beautiful carousel with handcrafted horses. Or use the carousel as a symbol of going round and round and never getting anywhere, to engage with your fans.
Or, if you are a social media expert, you can always use this day to talk about carousel ads for Facebook and Instagram.
HOT FUDGE SUNDAE DAY
You could gain a lot of weight if you celebrate all the foodie holidays. We couldn’t let Hot Fudge Sundae Day slip past without a mention. Very rich. Very indulgent. Pictures of these will get tastebuds tingling. July is ice-cream month, after all!
NATIONAL TALK IN AN ELEVATOR DAY
The accepted norm for riding in an elevator with strangers is for everyone to stare at the floor numbers above as they change in silence. What would happen if you broke that silence? How do you know that there isn’t a potential business opportunity just waiting for you, if you just broke the silence? National Talk in an Elevator Day is about stepping out of your comfort zone and starting a conversation. It won’t be a long one. Probably only 90 seconds by the time one of you leaves. How about it? Share an image of people in an elevator and get the conversation going about chance meetings.
ALL OR NOTHING DAY
Throw caution to the wind and dare to do something that you have been resisting. Fortune favours the bold. Encourage your audience to take up the challenge by finding an inspiring quote to use and ask them what they are going to do to take up the “all or nothing” gauntlet.
We’ll hand our 27th July Content Calendar entries over to Ellen for a fun introduction:
It’s Bagpipe Appreciation Day and National Take Your Pants for a Walk Day! Which, if you think about it, are strangely similar. – Ellen DeGeneres

BAGPIPE APPRECIATION DAY
The bagpipes may not be everyone’s cup of tea but, the Scottish Great Highland instrument played by men in kilts is very memorable.
The Scottish are not the only nation to play the bagpipe so you could find some fun facts about bagpipes to share on social media. The theme song from ‘Braveheart’ has bagpipes in it which are hauntingly beautiful. Alternatively, who can forget that Ross from ‘Friends’ wanted to play the bagpipes at Chandler and Monica’s Wedding. There are brilliant blooper videos and memes that you can share.
NATIONAL TAKE YOUR PANTS FOR A WALK
The idea of this day is to take your pants for a walk with you in them. Being outside in fresh air has health benefits. You could encourage people to go out for a walk on this day or your could be silly and find memes and videos of people literally walking their pants by dragging them along on a leash.
WORLD HEPATITIS DAY

Did you know that in times of recession, cosmetic sales continue to thrive? It’s called the “lipstick effect”. The theory is that you will cut down on big-ticket items when times are tight, but still buy little luxuries for yourself. Lipstick has been used since Ancient Egyptian times. Cleopatra apparently used crushed beetles and ants to make her lips red. Luckily, we don’t have to resort to pulverizing insects now to have the perfect pout.
NATIONAL LASAGNA DAY
“I never met a lasagna I didn’t like” – Jim Davis (Garfield)
Lasagna is one of those dishes that gives you a hug and of course it gets a listing in our July Content Calendar. This Italian dish loved by Garfield, tends to be a family favorite. Ask your followers who makes the best lasagne in their family.

HARRY POTTER’S BIRTHDAY
If you are a Harry Potter fan, it’s a good excuse to post a magical birthday wish for JK Rowling’s beloved hero. The special wizard was born on the 31st July 1980 which means he has a BIG birthday coming up soon. A fun way to celebrate is with a version of the pink chocolate birthday cake with “Happee Birthdae Harry” written in green that Hagrid gave Harry when they met.
